Top 5 Steakhouses in Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach restaurant scene may be best known for its fresh, local seafood, but those who prefer “land food” don’t have to look very far to find excellent steaks and chops. And if you enjoy a nice surf-and-turf dinner, you’ve come to the right place.

The Grand Strand, the 60-mile stretch of coastline that surrounds Myrtle Beach, is lined with great steakhouses, but there are a handful that stand out above the rest. Here are the top five places on the Grand Strand to get a juicy, delicious steak:

Angelo’s Steak & Pasta:

Most people wouldn’t think of going to an Italian restaurant for a great steak, but Angelo’s is better known for its beef than its international cuisine. Boasting “The Greatest Steaks in the Universe,” many locals and visitors agree and go for the seasoned steak served on a sizzling skillet. Various cuts are available, but the Big Daddy, a 24-ounce New York strip or bone-in rib eye, is a popular picks for those with big appetites or the desire to take home a doggy bag for a meal the next day.

Bistro 90:

This unique cafe is a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Located in the Long community at the junction of Highways 22 and 90, Bistro 90 prides itself on its in-house, dry-aged prime beef. Melt-in-your-mouth medallions of filet mignon, New York strip and rib eye are among the meatier menu items, along with fresh cuts of lamb, veal, pork and chicken. Nightly specials and surf-and-turf dishes are popular choices. An extensive wine list provides the perfect accompaniment to you meal, and the full bar specializes in creative martinis.

Cypress Room:

Guests at Island Vista are only a short elevator ride to some of the best steaks in Myrtle Beach. Specializing in Lowcountry dishes and seafood, the on-site Cypress Room also serves delicious cuts of beef. Pair the Grilled Filet with seared sea scallops, shrimp or lump crab cakes for a surf-and-turf feast with an ocean view. The Roasted Pork Chop and Braised Beef Short Ribs are also excellent selections from the “land food” menu. Enjoy a post-dinner drink or dessert on the open-air, oceanfront patio in a cozy rocking chair.

New York Prime:

Downtown Myrtle Beach may seem an unlikely location for an upscale, Manhattan-style steakhouse, but New York Prime is an institution for longtime visitors and golfers with picky taste buds. Serving only dry-aged prime cuts of beef, New York Prime delivers a wide range of top-notch cuts to your table, from beef tips to filet mignon. Pair it with the grilled sea bass for a surf-and-turf favorite, or add on some grilled onion and mushrooms to add to the flavor. A huge wine list and black-tie service complete the experience. Located on 28th Avenue North about a block from the beach, New York Prime is a short drive from Island Vista.

Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse:

If you have never experienced a Brazilian-style “Churrascaria” (Portuguese for “barbecue”), you are in for a real meat treat. Gauchos roam the dining room with 15 different cuts of meats, all seasoned and spiced for a unique flavor. Use the green sign on your table to signal “Si” and they will stop to carve off the meat of your choice directly on your plate, or use the red sign meaning “No Mas,” as in, I’m full and cannot eat another bite to save my life.” Rioz also has seafood and a giant salad and sushi bar, but it’s the sizzling beef that keeps them packing it in.
