The View: Top Five Places to Enjoy the Sunsets in Myrtle Beach

We don’t know where the magic comes from exactly, but it’s a well-established truth that Myrtle Beach has some of the best sunsets you’ll ever experience.

The locations to watch the breathtaking setting are countless … but we couldn’t help consulting some locals and pulling together a list of native favorites.  Here are our top 5 best locations to view the sunset in Myrtle Beach.

1. 2nd Avenue Pier
110 N. Ocean Blvd Myrtle Beach, SCg
Located at the Southern end of the boardwalk at 2nd Avenue North, the pier provides an idyllic place to enjoy a nice stroll on the pier and one of the best sunsets in Myrtle Beach. 2nd Avenue pier also has restaurants, great fishing and views that make it hard to go home! Located just over five miles from Island Vista Resort.

2. Greg Norman’s Australian Grille
4930 Highway 17 S., North Myrtle Beach, SC
As another languid South Carolina evening descends, there are few more relaxing ways to pass the time than by sitting near the Intracoastal Waterway and watching the sky turn pink, then gold and cobalt as the sun sets. And this upscale Barefoot Landing restaurant has great views, both inside and from the deck.

3. Murrells Inlet MarshWalk
Visit the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk for an unforgettable, postcard-perfect sunset! You can dine at one of more than a dozen restaurants along the Marsh Walk, as most have great views, or just stroll or have a seat along the walk and enjoy the unique sights and sounds of the salt marsh.

Hot tip: Murrells Inlet is about a 30 minute drive south of Island Vista resort, so make an afternoon of your trip south by spending some time in Garden City, Surfside or, farther south, at Brookgreen Gardens.

4. Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
See the sun set like you never have before! The Boardwalk stretches more than a mile to give you an endless view of a beautiful, uninterrupted beach and ocean, which tends to reflect the sunsets beautifully.

5. Sea Captain’s House
3002 N. Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, SC
This oceanfront restaurant serves up some of the best seafood dishes in Myrtle Beach. Featured in Southern Living and New York Times as South Carolina’s best bet for seafood because of its great food and unbelievable views, this is a classic choice for watching the sun drop, enjoyed by locals and visitors to Myrtle Beach for decades. And best yet, it’s just five minutes from Island Vista Resort.

We hope this list helps leads you to a great sunset watching experience next time you visit Myrtle Beach!

Now that you know the best locations, go see it for yourself! You don’t want to miss another breathtaking sunset over the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, here in Myrtle Beach!
