Cypress Room Serves Four-Course Feast for Thanksgiving

There’s nothing like Thanksgiving dinner at home, especially if you make Island Vista Resort your home away from home for the holidays, and let the on-site Cypress Room be your kitchen.

Enjoy a four-course Thanksgiving feast fit for a king and stretch out for a nap in your king-sized suite while someone else does the dishes. Now that’s a good reason to be thankful.

Families, couples and groups have been flocking to Island Vista for generations to celebrate the holiday with a little rest and relaxing at the beach and to experience one of the best Thanksgiving dinners in Myrtle Beach at the oceanfront Cypress Room. Serving award-winning cuisine in an elegant, fine-dining environment year round, the Cypress Room goes the extra mile for Thanksgiving dinner with an authentic New American feast designed by executive chef Mike McKinnon. “Thanksgiving is one of our busiest days and we have lots of repeat guests who come year after year,” said McKinnon, who also served as executive chef at the old Sea Island Resort before it became Island Vista. “We don’t do a buffet, except for the desserts. We have five different desserts and we make sure nobody goes home hungry.”

Incorporating fresh, local ingredients and some culinary creativity to the traditional Thanksgiving favorites, McKinnon and his staff deliver a four-course spread directly to your table overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Reservations are timed so that guests do not feel rushed. The courses keep coming while you and your party soak up the view.Start things off with a list of appetizers that include roasted butternut squash bisque with apple cider glaze, shrimp cocktail with tomato horseradish sauce, or a wild berry port gelee, arugula, pistachio with Chantilly cream. Guests can share starters and enjoy a passing dish of baked oyster casserole. No need to choose between ham and turkey when you can have both. Each entrée includes a serving of Tanglewood Farms natural herb-roasted turkey and Virginia country ham topped with pan gravy. Side items include cornbread and country sausage dressing, Anson Mill farro rice pilaf, sweet potato soufflé, green bean casserole, cranberry orange relish and a cheddar chive biscuit.

And if you can still make your way to the dessert table, satisfy your sweet tooth with a spread of Armagnac plum cake with a bourbon vanilla sauce, pumpkin pie with caramel sauce, blackberry cobbler, dark chocolate ganache cake with peanut brittle, or apricot and pecan streusel bread pudding. Can’t decide on just one? You don’t have to at the Cypress Room. After consuming a fantastic Thanksgiving feast, it’s time to retire to one of the rocking chairs on the patio deck to take in the crashing waves on the beach and some fresh ocean air. Or head back to the room to catch some football on TV and stretch out on the couch or bed. If you want to walk off the meal, take a relaxing stroll down the secluded stretches of beach that surround Island Vista, or take a dip in the heated pools and hot tubs.

If you are planning to stay at Island Vista for the entire holiday weekend, be sure to check out the Cypress Room’s regular services seven days a week. Start the day with a traditional breakfast spread, have a hot in-house pizza delivered to your room, or enjoy an elegant dinner of fresh local seafood, delicious steaks and chops and a long list of creative dishes.
