4 Favorite Things to Do at the Beach in Winter
Winter’s a great time to be at the beach. You may not be able to bake yourself in the hot summer sun, but what you get instead is plenty of peace and serenity, as well as just as much fun.
Here are our favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach in the winter:
1. Enjoy a great meal at your favorite Grand Strand restaurants
There was a time, decades back, when visitors to Myrtle Beach only came in the summer, and as a result, many restaurants closed their doors for the winter. But those days are long gone—not only has the local population grown to the point that it can sustain a thriving restaurant scene, but there are more and more winter visitors every year. Which means your favorite restaurants, from the Cypress Room right here at Island Vista to the thousands of other restaurants all along the Grand Strand, are open and ready for business, often without waits or much difficulty getting reservations.
2. Play golf
Myrtle Beach is one of the premier golf destinations the world over, so if you’re a golfer, you really have to play. There are hundreds of courses to choose from, great deals available in the winter, and there’s terrific weather in the weather. Brisk, yes, but rarely rainy or icy.
3. Go shopping
There’s something for every shopper in Myrtle Beach, so the question to ask is what kind of shopping experience are you interested in? Higher-end boutiques and national retailers in an urban village-style setting? Then you should probably head to The Market Common. Outlet deals on major brands? Take your pick from the area’s two Tanger Outlets. A large mall experience with big name department stores plus plenty of restaurants and a major movie theater? Coastal Grand might be the place for you. Plenty of gift shops and quirky stores with lots of entertainment for the whole family nearby? In that case, you’ll want to visit Broadway at the Beach.
4. Hit the beach
Look, it certainly cools off in Myrtle Beach in the middle of winter, but the beach is still a beautiful place to go and watch the waves, look for shells, and take long rambling walks. Doesn’t just thinking about it make you feel more relaxed?
