Attracting Vacationers since the 1920’s
Myrtle Beach is amongst the most popular and diverse vacation
destinations in the United States. 60 miles of amazing beaches and
beautiful ocean are among some of its most well known attractions.
You can also find plenty of shopping, fishing, and other amusements
to enjoy during your vacation. And of course let’s not forget
the golf.
Myrtle Beach has found a way to practically hypnotize every vacationing
golfer.
Myrtle Beach and some of its surrounding towns stretch along the coast
to form the Grand Strand, 60 miles of amazing beaches. The entertainment,
lots of quality shopping and superb cuisine draw visitors back to
Myrtle Beach time and time again.
Myrtle Beach began being renovated into the resort it is today back
in the 1920’s. It was actually a hurricane in 1954 that thrust
Myrtle Beach into the position of being the premier golf resort destination.
The renovations to Myrtle Beach at this time saw a birth of many new
golf resorts which have continued to grow today. Now a person can
delight in over 100 different courses to choose from. Myrtle Beach
may very well be the golf capital of the world.
Myrtle Beach’s golf scene isn’t only for the adults. It
has also become an amazing place for miniature golf. With nearly 50
different miniature golf courses in Myrtle Beach, families and children
can also enjoy some tee time.
The Myrtle
Beach Pavilion, a theme park, is also an obvious destination for
the vacationing family. Roller Coasters and other attractions have
been bringing families to its doors for 40 years. It also is home
to South Carolina’s biggest Ferris wheel. NASCAR fans flock
to the Myrtle Beach Speedway to see amateur and professional races.
Ripley's Aquarium is another great family spot, where visitors follow
an underwater path while sharks swim overhead.
Myrtle Beach’s piers, waterways, and fishing boats
attract fishermen as well. There is also scuba
diving for those who like to explore. Myrtle Beach also offers
windsurfing, canoeing and jet skiing. A great spot for crabbing and
shrimping is Murrells Inlet, a lovely fishing village which also has
some great restaurants for seafood lovers. More than 1,600 restaurants
inhabit the Strand to offer a variety of foods from snacks to wonderful
dining. Anyway you look at it, Myrtle Beach’s variety of activities
and food make it a great spot for any vacationer.
